DIY Corner: Bathroom Refresh

No items found.

✨ It goes without saying, but we’re going to say it anyway: house prices are through the proverbial roof. For those of us who are planning to stay put, Kenyon Noble is committed to helping you fall in love with your home all over again as your Renovation Destination. First up, the bathroom! Keep reading to learn more about the options you have to give your bathroom the refresh it deserves.

‍

First things first: get clear on what you want.

Find some inspiration photos on Pinterest or in your favorite magazines to get an idea on what style you’re going for. This will also help you determine the level of work you’re committing to with this project, as well as a ballpark budget. When you set your budget, be sure to add 10-20% of it for any unforeseen expenses.

Now comes the fun part: planning! Keep reading to get inspired with some of our favorite ways to refresh your washroom.

‍

Paint

Paint is arguably the most cost effective way to update just about anything. A fresh coat of paint on the walls can transform your dingy water closet into a light and airy spa-like retreat. Check out this great color palette from Benjamin Moore that has a collection of great colors to fit any style you’re looking to create. Want to go bold? Try adding a fun color to your ceiling and a contrasting white on the walls.

Why stop with the walls? Let’s paint that vanity and cabinets while we’re at it. Depending on the current state of your cabinetry, you may need to prep the surfaces by sanding and priming. Your local Kenyon Noble paint associate can help you find the correct paint type as well as any supplies you may need to get the job done.

‍

Hardware

One of the easiest updates you can make is to update your hardware. Towel racks, hooks, drawer pulls, and cabinet knobs can add a whole new feel to your bathroom with the turn of a few screws.

You could also go as far as to update your faucet and showerhead to go with your new hardware. Maybe you want to match everything in oil rubbed bronze for a rustic look, or mix and match matte black and copper for an eclectic and unique style.

‍

Vanity

If your vanity has seen better days, it’s made from cheap manufactured particleboard, or maybe you have a pedestal sink that has zero storage, you might want to pop in to our Bozeman home design center (reopening this Spring 2024!) and have a custom cabinet made. The possibilities are endless and can be customized to your exact wants and needs. Under-sink pull out drawers, hair appliance organizers, and concealed drawers are just the tip of the iceberg. With multiple finishes and door styles, you can have the bathroom vanity of your dreams with the help of the staff at Kenyon Noble.

Is custom cabinetry outside your budget? We also have several pre-made options to fit any style for you to choose from. Stop in and browse our current selection today!

‍

Lighting

Is there anything worse than trying to get ready in a dimly-lit bathroom? Simply swapping out your light bulbs for the correct brightness and temperature can help you see things clearly. Not enough? Replacing your vanity or overhead fixtures can not only give your bathroom an entirely new vibe, but you will also be able to see clearly while shaving (kind of important).

‍

Organization

If you love organization as much as I do, and you have a small closet attached to the bathroom, you will love the versatility and customization that Organized Living offers. You can design your own custom storage solutions on their website, print out the product list, then simply bring in to your local Kenyon Noble to place your order.

If you have a closet-less bathroom, simply adding a high shelf above the door is a great way to store those unsightly extras out of sight. This is a super simple update, consisting of some L-brackets and a nice wide wood shelf. Paint or stain the wood to your liking, and install with the brackets for quick and easy storage space! Use this space for extra toilet paper, cleaning supplies in decorative baskets, or your stash of extra toiletries.

‍

We could go on and on, but the above ideas are a great jumping off point for you to get started on your bathroom refresh. Once you have your vision and have created a shopping list, you can get started! If you’re not sure what supplies you need to achieve the look you’re going for, stop in and talk to the friendly and helpful staff at your local Kenyon Noble today.

‍

While do-it-yourself projects can be fun and fulfilling, there is always a potential for personal injury or property damage. We strongly suggest that any project beyond your abilities be left to licensed professionals such as electricians, plumbers, and carpenters. Any action you take upon the information on this website is strictly at your own risk, and we assume no responsibility or liability for the contents of this article.
