Join us for the 9th annual Montana Pitmaster Classic! This family friendly, community event is open to the public and everyone is welcome! Join us to support a great cause as the food and drink proceeds go directly to our local Gallatin Valley YMCA in supporting our youth and scholarship programs.
Professional and amateur contestants from all over the US and Canada come to compete for the Montana State Championship of BBQ in the categories of chicken, pork ribs, pork, and brisket.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 28 | 5 PM - 8 PM
Bring your appetite! Surrounding the main competition is the 'Que for a Cause on Friday, Aug 28th, where a variety of competing teams will be serving specialty foods, and music will be playing to make for a great family event. A large percentage of all proceeds from the Montana Pitmaster Classic will go directly toward supporting our community and the Gallatin Valley YMCA.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 29 | 12 PM - 4 PM
Want to try a real competition BBQ? A select number of competitors will be selling their delicious competition BBQ turn-ins starting at 12 pm.
Join us at noon to check out the biggest names in BBQ; Traeger, Ooni, Weber, and Recteq. Their professional grillmasters will be on-hand to showcase grills, reveal new products, give live demos, host educational classes, and teach new and innovative ways to produce great barbecue. Classes are scheduled to start at 12pm.
Stick around until 4 pm to see who will be crowned the 2026 Montana Pitmaster Champion! The overall highest-scoring competitor in all categories will become the Grand Champion of the tournament and state champion, making them eligible for the Kansas City Royal (one of the biggest bbq competitions in the world!)
